Turn off, Tune in, Breathe...
The precleanse has provided me with some interesting surprises. Things I thought would be difficult to surrender, so far, have not been. I've gone from 2 mugs of coffee to one to green tea to orange tea (no caffeine). No big deal. I do miss a glass (or two) of red wine with dinner, but no excessive jonesing as yet. (Hey, what's up with that milk thistle! Tastes like cheap cognac!) The food is good and leaves one feeling light. I'm used to engorging myself with bread and pasta. Hate it that carbs are out of fashion.
So all that has been relatively easy, although, I don't relish the idea of getting up at 5am in 2 days. I'm hoping a warm bath with the salts will help me fall asleep early. Love that brush.
It's the other thing which Gina coyly suggested we do without, that I will miss. The media. Not crappy network TV, but just all the other stuff - good stuff on PBS, Discovery, etc.- that I am normally compelled to watch. I'm never in my car without NPR on. And now there's the internet- stories on NPR which I missed, podcasts, and, of course, the junk, the You Tube attachments. Even my AOL home page wants to send me all over the place (poor Paris, she's just confused). So much chatter. So much noise.
For the next seven days I will attempt to keep my television off. The car radio will be more difficult, but I think I can get into the silence and the beautiful scenery. Most importantly, if I am with someone, no matter who, I hope I can remember to breathe deeply into the heart and establish a flow and connection. Life is short. Steve

Mmmm hmmmm...this message reads like goo-ood music to my ears. So proud of you for limiting your input so you can listen to what's already within. Beautiful!
Hi Steve,
I'm with you on the limited input! I want to add that I would also like to bring your attitude of listening to where I can't limit input (still gotta work and get those school assignments done. Perhaps there is a way to create more space around all of that too!
Cheers!
Roberta
I've been enjoying a much-reduced world news diet, and I think it's helping me to get back in touch with people around me--which I suppose is the real hope! Are we supposed to be limiting our reading this week as well? I've cut out world conflict for now, but what about the newspaper, magazines, fiction? It's a good time for other reading for me if it's permitted.
I think you need to use your intuition but I would recommend spending this time reading something that is supportive of your spiritual evolution and growth. I don't think most fiction, most magazines and many newspapers fit into that category. Obviously we have a lot of superb books at the studio that would fit into that category, as does the library. Let your reading be as healthy as your diet (ie: People magazine = twinkie)
