Mindfulness and Eating,
Hello Cleanse Kula,
The cleanse diet isn't very different from how I usually eat, so moving into it during the precleanse hasn't required much change. You might think then, that I'm a mindful eater. Not so! Gina mentioned somewhere that we can treat food and eating as a necessary nusiance or emotional crutch. Since I started graduate school last October, even though I eat good food, I stopped eating it well - mindfully. Often, I eat fast, really fast, and don't enjoy the richness of my food, and the interior considerations of its nourishment. It has become a necessary nusiance. As I entered the precleanse period with intention, it brought this lack of mindfulness more into the light. So one of my intentions for the cleanse it to continue this beginning of restoring a mindful relationship to food and eating - make space around the activity and the ritual of it.

What a wonderful realization! Food as nourishment for the whole being. Eating a meal as an opportunity to connect with all the people involved in getting it to our plate, a chance to feel gratitude for this meal and to give thanks to this beautiful instrument, the body, that enables us to share our Selves. Right on Roberta!
