Meal Chant
Hello Everyone!
I was looking at JudithHanson Lasater's website and found this quote. I thought you might enjoy it.
First this food is for true practice.
Second it is for our teachers and parents.
Third it is for all nations and all beings.
Thus we eat this food with everyone, we eat to stop all harming, to practice serving and to accomplish the awakened way.

Happy Mother's Day! I hope everybody is doing well and transitioning easy!

Laura:
Thanks for sharing this meal chant. I have always used the Thich Nhat Hanh remembrances that Roberta Shared, but this chant has some new things that I'd like to incorporate.
I particularly like the line that says "we eat to stop all harming..." I think it is powerful to recognize that we can add to harming of the earth and animals and our bodies by our consumption, or we can consciously choose to eat in a way that reduces harming.
Hi Laura,
Thanks for the updated version! I like to think of myself as an ecological eater, and use ecological harm as my guiding prinicle for determining what to privelege eating. One of the things I like most about these chants is that they remind us of where food comes from. In my view, there is literally nothing which does not contain some level of beingness, even if just at the atomic level (like a rock!) All God's creatures great and small!
