Hi friends!
Well, it's been a week since our remarkable time together. I'll bet it feels like 3 months ago, no?
Blog usage has considerably dropped off and I'll bet it's because most of us are going from 0-60 is 3 seconds flat to get back to our "normal" pace. I'd really love to hear from you and know how things are going with your eating, your stress, your thoughts, your family?
As for me, most of you know I totally overdid it the week of the cleanse and took one day off on Monday to rest. Well, Monday I got sick and it's still lingering. So instead of working with getting some of my classes covered during the cleanse week (I was too stubborn for that), I ended up having to sub out most of my classes the following week because I was sick. Think I'm being sent a message? ;)
This last weekend I went to Omega Institute to a Women of Yoga retreat. It was remarkable and powerful - I feel really inspired, even though I was sick the whole time. Not to mention, they eat the most amazing cleansy food there and you never feel deprived. It's totally possible, clearly it's all in the mind and a matter of what you'll make time for.
May we support each other in trying to wrangle our habits! Let's hear from you, my friends!
Peace,
Gina

Hi cleanse kula,
Sorry to hear you were ill, Gina, not that I could tell last Thursday. I hope everyone else is doing well.
I seem to be staying on the cleanse diet, second and third phases, much to my own surprise. I was almost totally vegetarian (since precleanse began) until a few days ago, so I decided to allow myself a small portion of meat once per week. And I've had to add protein recently--eggs or tuna or fish--once per day. The mindfulness of staying with this intention creates mindfulness in so many other ways, something I hadn't imagined. For example, at-home yoga practice, up to now sporadic and not quite great, is better. Last week I went upstairs to the spare bedroom, planning to catch up on the ironing. Instead, I turned on the yoga music and started right up, not even taking time to set up my mat. By the end of the cd I was feeling very fresh, picked up the iron and was--seriously--transfixed with the smoothness of the iron over the cloth! (I wouldn't say this to just anyone, now....!)
I've had a few trying days with my dad and find myself letting off steam in someone else's direction. I'm trying to make a habit of pausing and starting over right then, honoring myself with patience and forgiveness. I highly recommend this practice!
I get the Yoga Journal email/listserve automatically sent to me everyday--with a short version of an essay linked to the full version and even other readings--a great gem of a reminder of interesting topics in the email box. It's free: you may want to give it a try. You can get on the list on the site: yogajournal.com.
See you soon,
Namaste,
Dorothy
HI! I've continued to eat the same as phase three plus a few additions, one being the feast at the Cheesecake Factory (that made my stomach hurt, I blew-up like a balloon). I've had some dark chocolate, that made me feel a little buzzy, I think because I still haven't had coffee(which I don't miss) I haven't been riding the low blood sugar roller coaster. I like that alot. I've hardley watched any television, no news, it's depressing! As far as my family goes, they are somewhat used to me "trying to be healthy"...some look to me with worry and say "I thought you were already healthy, why are you doing this?" I tell them I don't believe you can be too healthy! They just look concerned and say Ohhhhhhh. The stress I felt, was not being able to get to a yoga class untill that Thursday. I missed it soooo much!
I want to here about the "most amazing cleansing food" Gina!

I wanted to try to stick to phase 3 as long as I could...but I went on vacation, and blew it completely except for no red meat...we were on a motorcycle so we couldn't pack any food, and we had a long way to travel so we stopped mostly at fast food places. I did try to eat the healthiest items I could find, limited caffeine, sugar, white flour as much as I could...meditated with my eyes open, repeating my mantra...but am definitely off track sooner than I hoped to be...now that I am back in town, I hope I can get back to it!
