Day 3
After surviving the "dreaded" Day 2, we find ourselves at Day 3. Will your choices today exacerbate attachment and aversion? As in "Phew, sure glad we're done with that hell!" or "Sweet! I'm going to eat rice at every meal, finally I can eat like a human again!" Or will you calmly and with equanimity tread these next steps?
One of my teachers told a story about her husband (a serious Buddhist meditator) choking at a restaurant once. It was a big hullabaloo as he was choking all over the place and clearly suffering. Someone gave him the heimlich (sp?) and once the offending particle was spewn across the room, people clustered around and someone said, "Are you better now?" and he replied, "I'm different now". I love that story because it is the epitome of equanimity - imagine not practicing attachment even to non-choking!
Tell us about your experiences on this day, and so far.
I want to give some extra love out to Julie and Kirsten who are both working with their smoking addiction during this cleanse and to Mike who's feeling really, really rotten today. Big kula love to you!

I am still trying to figure out the whole blog thing - I think I did something wrong at the beginning and am not a "member" of this blog...but I can post comments. Today is better than yesterday, but I am very tired...looking forward to my bath and an early night tonight. I thought it was awesome this morning when different people were sharing the simple joys of the present moment - the sunrise, the fox in the backyard, the purple martins...
hello all, i am the mike referenced and am feeling a little better, I am wondering if I am not eating enough calories, I happened to weigh myself sunday night to figure out how much a loaded backpack weighed and as of this afternoon I have lost about 6 pounds since then, anyone else noticed weight loss like this?
Holy buckets! Are you drinking enough water?
Hey Mike - I lost about 6 or 7 pounds on each previous cleanse but that was during the whole week - not just a day or two. Eat up! Feel better and hope to see you tomorrow.
Feeling pretty good food-wise, but boy, am I SORE. I enjoyed the way you integrated the strength of the kula in the practice this morning, Gina. It definitely gave me an added boost.
Mike, be sure you are drinking enough water. Also, are you eating the avocados and olive oil? Add the nuts, too. Everybody's different, but,as a rule, men tend to lose more weight than women during cleanses. (Sigh..) (The nurse in me is showing...)
Thanks for everything Gina. The hypnosis was different. I was able to go over to my Mother's house and watch her smoke like a chimney. I wasn't craving at that time. My mind did play a trick on me after dinner. I had to get up and go do something else to get my mind off the after dinner smoke. I'm still tired, but the rice and nuts have helped.
Karla, you can try the homeopathic remedy "arnica". That should help with your sore muscles. They have an oinment and pellets.
Day 3 started out better than day 2 for me. I had decided to continue with fruits and vegetables for the 1st week, and extending the whole thing out for 3 weeks. By mid afternoon however, I became very tired and sort of weak. I think I am in for early retirement tonight. I will see how it goes tomorrow with the fruits and veggies, but if I am not felling better I will be ready to grab some grains and nuts.
I broke down and journaled today, (I didn't like it though) I am sure practice will make perfect. Ready for day 4. Linda
